BTX4530 & BTX4535 Series Telephones  
INSTALLING YOUR TELEPHONE  
AUTO DIAL/ONE TOUCH FEATURE KEYS  
Included with the BTX series phones are (one each:)  
The BTX series has programmable AUTO DIAL keys.  
(Depending on the model purchased, your phone may  
either five or ten auto dial keys.)These keys can be  
programmed to automatically dial telephone numbers  
or activate telephone system features.  
• Line cord  
• Handset  
• Coiled handset cord  
• User guide  
• Clear plastic overlay  
Contact your supplier or Teledex for information on  
custom-designed faceplates that will greatly enhance the  
appearance of your telephone.  
The phone will dial the stored number each time an AUTO  
DIAL key is pressed.  
Some of the AUTO DIAL locations may have been  
pre-programmed before installation.  
1) Located on the left side of the phone is a modular jack  
labeled TO HANDSET. Insert one end of the coiled hand-  
set cord into this jack (you will hear the cord plug click  
when it is properly and securely inserted).  
STORING AUTO DIAL/ONE TOUCH KEYS  
To store an AUTO DIAL number:  
2) Insert the plug on the other end of the coiled handset  
cord into the modular jack on the handset.  
The phone must be connected to a telephone line.  
1) Lift the handset.  
3) Turn the telephone so the back panel is facing you.  
Insert either end of the line cord into the jack on the back  
of the telephone labeled TO TEL.  
2) Press the STORE key (see diagram on reverse) and  
release it.  
4) Insert the other end of the line cord into a  
telephone wall outlet jack.  
3) Enter the telephone number including PAUSE  
or FLASH as required (see diagram on reverse).  
The dialing sequence can be up to fifteen (15)  
digits long.  
5) Once your telephone is connected, place a paper  
faceplate over the keys. The plastic overlay slips into place  
by hooking the tabs on the overlay into the recessed slots  
located on both sides.  
(Hint: the overlay is easiest to insert when the left or right  
side tabs are inserted first, and the middle part of the over-  
lay is slightly bent to allow for insertion of the other tabs.)  
4) Press the AUTO DIAL key where the number is to be  
stored.  
5) Replace the handset.  
USING THE HOLD KEY  
To place a call on hold:  
PLACING A CALL ON THE HANDSET  
1) Lift the handset.  
2) Listen for dial tone, dial the desired number, or press an  
AUTO DIAL key to automatically dial a number.  
1. Press the red HOLD key. The red HOLD LED will  
light. The handset can be replaced without disconnecting  
the call.  
3) To end the call, hang up by replacing the  
handset in the cradle.  
2. To return to the call on HOLD, remove the handset from  
the cradle, or press the HOLD key.  
RECEIVING A CALL ON THE HANDSET  
HANDSET VOLUME KEY  
1) Lift the handset to connect to the ringing line.  
The HANDSET VOLUME key will increase the handset  
volume. Pressing this button during a call will increase the  
receive volume. Pressing again will return the volume to  
the normal level. The handset volume is reset to normal  
with each new call.  
2) To end the call, hang up by replacing the  
handset in the cradle.
